Hard Rock Café, Prague 1

Restaurants and Cafes on 14 October 2009 by Karen

Thirty-eight years after it first came into existence in London in 1971, the Hard Rock Café has finally opened its doors in Prague too! As most of you will already know, the Cafe has nothing to do with ‘Hard’ Rock at all - just good old Rock ‘n’ Roll and great American diner food to boost.

Expat Market, Prague 4

Events, Useful Information on 06 October 2009 by Larissa

Come along and check out the Expat Market Day this Sunday (11 October) at the Prague British School. The market will take the form of a traditional car boot sale: sellers will be displaying their items for sale from behind their parked cars. It’s a lot of fun - you can haggle for a fair price, walk away with a bargain and help local charities at the same time.

Bobsleigh Track Prosek, Prague 9

Activities on 29 September 2009 by Karen (2 comments)

Thundering down this almost 1000 metre long slide of steel, is 100% pure adrenalin. The first time is terrifying (it was for me) but you do get used to it. There is a break handle that you either let go, in order to speed up or pull towards yourself, if you want to break. The maximum speed you will reach is 62km/h.

Let me warn you, that even though this entry will be a bit on the long side, it will provide you with a detailed list on how to best do Krakow if you’re travelling with kids. Krakow - similar to Cambridge and as charming as Prague, used to be the capital of Poland. You can reach it easily by car or plane with 2 daily flights leaving from Prague to Balice Airport.

Vojanovy Sady (orchards), Prague 1

Playgrounds on 09 September 2009 by Karen

Surrounded by a huge stone wall which seems to go up all the way into the sky, these former orchards are actually a large public park. Open all year round, it is a super place to visit for adults as well as children.

Vaclavkova Playground and Fountain, Prague 6

Playgrounds on 06 September 2009 by Darina

In general, its not easy to find playgrounds around Prague 6, especially near the huge roundabout nicknamed Kulatak and officially called Vitezne namesti (Vitezne Square). We lived in this area for some time so I mapped the area, thoroughly focusing on Kid Friendly Places.

When it gets hot and steamy in Prague, then one of the best ways to cool down, especially if you have kids, is at one of the city’s several outdoor swimming pools (Venkovni Koupaliste).

Chateau Jemniste, Postupice

An easy day trip out of Prague is a visit to Zámek Jemniště. Here you can take a tour inside the chateau or just stroll around the beautifully restored grounds which also include a small zoo. Jemniste also has a pretty exceptional cafe and restaurant on-site. And if you don’t feel like leaving well thats fine, as you can stay here too!
