So far for me and the boys this is the best outside swimming area in Prague and it’s easily reached by public transport or by car. Situated in Prague 6, Petynka is very close to the centre of Prague and opposite the well known Hotel Pyramida 4*. If you drive there and exit from the Strahovsky tunnel, you can see the blue water slides on the hill right in front of you.

Swimming pool at Hotel Intercontinental, Prague 1

It has been quite some time since we have been members of the Fitness and Wellness club of the Hotel Intercontinental, in Prague 1. But since then I’ve recommended this place to at least 10 families who now go there regularly to swim with their babies.

Sawasdee Thai Massage, Prague 1

I’ve passed these massage places so often and never given them a second look, that was until my sister insisted that we step inside and try it out - her treat! Thai massage is known for it’s firm but effective manipulation of the muscles and skeletal structure. The practice is similar to other eastern type massage where the masseuse works to open up channels of energy and help make the body fluid again. More simply with western logic, massage helps loosen up muscles, stimulates blood flow, unblocks any tension, helps realign our posture and improves sleep.

Indoor Playground at Galerie Nove Butovice, Prague 5

We do not go to this kids corner in Galerie Nove Butovice Shopping Mall very often, but if we do, the boys are fully satisfied even though it isn’t very big. One bonus, its never crowded. The last time we shared the space with only 4 other children. It is kept very neat and clean and does the job and at least you don’t have to run around like mad from one corner to the next.

Pod Kaplickou Playground with pool, Prague 3

I’ve heard good things about this playground so finally ventured out here on a hot summers day. This playground is a real find, where else can you’re kids swim for free and so close to the centre? Ok, well paddle is a more accurate description. Anyway, for any 2 year old or even 6 year old it is a delightful attraction on a hot, sunny day. The pool is accessed by two or three slip-proof stairs and the water is about 20 or 30cm deep, enough depth for kids to play, splash and sit in.

Trampoline Jumping With Babysitting, Prague 5

I have to admit I nearly died at my first jumping lesson. But it was so worth it. Somebody came up with a great idea to arrange babysitting for this lesson, so i dropped my boys off to the kids corner in Squashpark-Cibulka and enjoyed the ride. If you need to loose some extra weight quickly or to shape up, you have to try this. In one hour this exercise is proven to burn 1500 calories!!! and after the exercises I could feel every troublesome muscle (abdomen, hips, shoulders..) not to mention how much fun it was.

Kavalirka Mini Playground, Prague 5

Honestly, this playground at Kavalirka, Prague 5 is very small, approx.: 10m x 5m. But, I am sure people living nearby are proud to have it there. It has all you need for a 20 min stopover from shopping. The village of Kavalirka in Prague 5 has all the small shops you need; the butchers, fruit and vegetable store, a flower shop, pharmacy etc. and nearly every time I nip out there with boys, we have our 10-15 min at this playground.

Pizzeria Gusto, Prague 2

From memory this restaurant opened in early 2006. The space was newly renovated and featured tiled flooring and wooden tables with a large central bar area. The building inside and out was freshly painted and the large glass windows overlooking the park opposite made it a picturesque choice for lunch or dinner. At the time I was pregnant so David and I could enjoy the lush scenery, busy street scape and the spacious front area of the restaurant facing the street.

Hlavni Nadrazi Playground, Prague 1

Like many train stations across Europe Hlavni Nadrazi (Prague’s Main Railway Station) has it’s rather seedy and suspect corners where commuters pass through quickly in order to make their appointments. Surprisingly, a once seedy corner in the park surrounding the station has sprung up a fantastic playground popular with both locals, tourists and commuters alike.

Hidden away at the bottom of Havlickovy Sady in Prague 2 is a parent’s dream. Here you will find the Park Restaurant and Cafe, a family friendly venue with a large, paved outdoor terrace facing the park and the Botic river. Parents can rest easy and relax whilst kids whizz around on a range of push cars supplied by the restaurant or clamber over the outdoor children’s playground situated on a grassy lawn.
