Obchodni Centrum (OC) Letnany Shopping Mall is so massive, that you could probably see it from outer space. It is sprawled out over a large area in Prague 9 and is the largest shopping complex in the whole of the Czech Republic. It has it all:Indoor playground, Outside Playground, Play Areas, Aquapark, Ice-Skating Arena, Cinema and much more…
Check it out !
This year Czech Rail (CD – Ceske Drahy) together with Prague 5 local youth centre (DDM-Dum Deti a Mladeze) has once again organized several traditional St. Nicholas (Svaty Mikuláš) Steam Train Rides for the young as well as the young at heart. All in the honour of a famous bishop who lived almost 2 centuries ago. On Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th November, the so-called ‘four-wheeled’ steam train (Ctyrkolak – serial number: 434.2186 – for all train buffs out there), will depart from Branik Railway Station (Prague 4) on 8 separate occasions.

I have a ballet-crazy 4 year old girl in the house and lucky for her Prague is a fantastic city for ballet. Ballet performances are spread over three venues within Prague 1: The Estates Theatre, The State Opera House and The National Theatre. We spend a lot of time going to various performances around town and here are a few of our opinions. We have two favorites so far: Cinderella (Popelka) and Goldilocks (Zlatovlaska).
There are currently 3 Franck Provost unisex hair salons in Prague, the largest of which is located in the rear garden area of Slovansky Dum, Na Prikope. The Czech Republic is one of 22 countries around the world where this international chain currently does business.
A brand new TIME OUT Indoor Playground has just opened in Prague 4. It is located inside the relatively new (2006) Novodvorska Plaza shopping mall. Styled in an American country-western theme, it enables you to go and check out the shops while leaving your children (aged 3 years and up) in the care of trained baby-sitters. Younger ones are allowed to play too but must remain supervised by their carer at all times.
A great way to spend the weekend is taking in one of the kid friendly theatre performances by drama group Minaret at Reduta Jazz Club theatre space in Narodni. Performances are regularly held outside the summer months and are perfect for children aged 3 and over. Adults too can enjoy the fun on stage and watching your children’s faces light up in wonderment is priceless.
Looking for a special occasion venue where you can head with the kids? Why not try the La Rotonde Restaurant, located on the ground floor of the luxury Radisson SAS Alcron Hotel close to Wenceslas Square. Here they serve the popular Sunday Jazz Brunch every Sunday from noon until 3.30pm. The ‘all you can eat’ buffet takes you on a tempting tour of the world’s cuisines while you enjoy the subtle swing of live Jazz Music.
CANZA is the Czech Australian New Zealand Association which I happen to be a board member of. We organise a lot of events to bring together Czech, Australian and New Zealand culture. Our main event is the Annual Charity Christmas Ball which this year will be held at the InterContinental Hotel Prague on Saturday 6 December. For this year’s ball we have prepared the following program:
Based inside the Metrople Zlicin Shopping Complex, this Family Fitness Centre has something for everyone. Aerobics, spinning, pilates, yoga, work-out classes for pregnant women, kids’ gymnastics as well as a children’s play area and infant babysitting available from 2 months onwards.
I was pleasantly surprised to find the Pohadka Indoor Playground (pohadka = fairy tale) at Sestka Shopping mall fully up and running, carefully designed with a friendly atmosphere. This play area might take some effort to find but when you discover a long, green Matrix like corridor (close to the Gourmet floor) then you’re heading the right way. Alternatively, you can take the elevator to the Mezzanine level where the Indoor playground is situated.
