Less than 2 hours from Prague is the family-friendly Zámek Loučeň: a romantic baroque chateau with chapel sits atop a ridge, surrounded by English parklands. It’s best feature, 10 beautifully constructed Labyrinths (Mazes) scattered throughout.

I’m having difficulty finding a name to describe this 3 room Indoor Playground because it is big - more like a Play Centre. Apparently it has the cheapest entry fee in town; the fee is 89czk for the whole family, no matter how many kids you have, bargain!
Their latest addition is a fully-operation kitchen allowing them to operate as a restaurant serving a range of hot meals to visitors. Previously it was set up like a Café with a self-service counter and basic snacks.

The Saltzkammergut region of Austria is truly spectacular, massive alps surround pristine lakes offering ideal swimming spots on warm summer days. Boat cruises, sailboat hire, hiking, biking, cable car rides and cave visiting are just some of the activities going on in this region and it’s a reasonably close 350km from Prague.

So far for me and the boys this is the best outside swimming area in Prague and it’s easily reached by public transport or by car. Situated in Prague 6, Petynka is very close to the centre of Prague and opposite the well known Hotel Pyramida 4*. If you drive there and exit from the Strahovsky tunnel, you can see the blue water slides on the hill right in front of you.

This was our easiest stay with Kids in a hotel. We had been searching for a one week getaway from Prague with kids and we found this family oriented Hotel with 4 Indoor Playgrounds, a Swimming Pool, Outdoor Playground and with all the equipment for kids you can think of. Perfect for Winter and a Summer stay. My report is from a Winter stay but my Girlfriend with 3 babies just came back from a Summer stay so I will have her comments shortly.
This is my longest artcile ever - but it was needed in case you go!

When it’s hot and sunny, kayakers, canoeists and rafters dot the country’s main rivers. The Vltava, Berounka, Sazava, Luznice, Ohre and Otava rivers are the main spots to hire a boat and experience this wonderful Czech past time. We’ve done quite a few trips on the Vltava, our last trip was with a 13 month old, a 23 month old and a 4 year old so I can wholeheartedly recommend this for children 1 year and above.

I thought it will be warm already and look at the weather :-( SO when it gets warmer, this is where to go…
Kladno is a town not far from Prague, approx.: 20 km direction towards the Airport. My boys are comfortably swimming with armbands therefore they do not enjoy the paddling pools anymore and want to swim in big style complexes with springboards and waterslides. We had great fun at Kladno koupaliste (outdoor swimming) as well as Kladno Indoor Aquapark which is right next to it.

It seems there are less options for pre-teens and teenagers in Prague - maybe this will change as the baby boom kids (those born 2003 to 2008) grow older. One exception is Areal Gutova (also known as Gutovka) which offers heaps of adventurous activities for kids all ages. The area has recently expanded and now includes an impressive high wire obstacle course of zip lines rope bridges and climbing frames which require both a harness and helmet for those 10 and above.

Perfect for rainy days. This one is situated right in Galerie Nove Butovice Shopping Mall and you can pop in for short game before or after your shopping. If you do this every Saturday - your kids can hop inside the bouncy castle for free. They do have kids clubs there and what’s most important - everybody there is chilled out and relaxed.

A 20-minute car ride, heading north, from the centre of Prague, is all that it takes to get to this indoor/outdoor museum, an absolute must for any plane enthusiast – young or old. What’s more, believe it or not, the entry is absolutely FREE!
