Mirakulum Adventure Playground, Milovice

Playgrounds, Day Trips on 20 July 2013 by Larissa

image

What a surprise when we arrived at Mirakulum! With very few photos showing what it was like we had to trust that it would be worth the drive. Im glad to say that it exceeded expectations. I was thrilled to see energetic and inspired children exploring and enjoying the outdoors. The adventurous climbing frames, tunnels, swings and exciting castle were a delight and fresh change from loud ‘fairground style’ attractions.

Lhota Sand Lake with Playgrounds and Beach, Lhota-Mlada Boleslav

Swimming Activities, Activities on 01 July 2013 by Darina

image

Probably the closest Sand Lake to Prague with infractructure, clean water and pine trees all around, kiosks and a sand beach. I must admit it was a nice change to come here after all those swimming pools we have visited over summer. Firstly, even if many people arrive the water isn’t overcrowded and there is lots of space for a good swim. Secondly, it’s a nice connection to nature and a rest from chlorinated water. These last weeks of August 2012 will be HOT!! So enjoy these last swims of Summer!
Pls. see update at the bottom from 27.7.2013

Hooping for Families - Novelty in Prague

Activities, Sports and Fitness on 25 June 2013 by Darina

image

I had an idea to introduce you to new Hula-Hooping classes in Prague run by Hoopnotica Academy. I learned all about it from my friend Edita – who is the first certified Instructor to bring Hooping to the Czech Rep., its real fun for anybody. The reason I am writing about it here is, that when Edita hosted a Hooping gathering in Ladronka park, the interest of the public especially from mothers and their daughters was enormous. Every girl passing by was mesmerised by the Hula-Hoops and wanted to try it. By Hooping you loose 400-600 calories per hour!!! Not bad for a simple piece of plastic!!
Its easy, fun and the whole family can join in.

Miminoo Garden Restaurant & Cafe, Prague 3

Restaurants and Cafes on 12 June 2013 by Larissa

image

I wouldn’t normally review a place without trying the food, but this NEW outdoor restaurant under the Zizkov Tower is a place without the worry of unstable trees and park closures. Perfect for parents with babies and toddlers, the garden restaurant has a large, fenced in lawn, dog-poo free and clean. Better still, they advertise family lunches on Saturdays and Sundays with an entertainment program for kids.

Kids Birthday Parties at Pre-school Sbihava, Prague 6

Birthday Venues and Ideas on 26 May 2013 by Darina

image

This is a hot venue TIP for children’s birthday celebrations - a subject often discussed between parents; ‘Where to organise a kids party?’ We were invited to my son Marcus’ first love - yes - love (Marcus is 7 btw) and that is how I discovered this really great place. It’s in a czech state kindergarten in Prague 6 that looks like a posh private school. They rent it for weekends at any time and weekdays from 16:30. The cost is 500CZK per hour…a Good Deal!

Guest Report by Jen Potts, Founder/Consultant, Evergreen Teaching
From the very beginning it’s natural for all parents to compare our children to others, but have you noticed if your child may developing at a different rate than their peers? Have you concerns that your child may have learning, behavior or speech and language challenges? Maybe your child’s teacher has raised some red flags or your child has received a diagnosis and you’re looking for more information or support? Or perhaps you’re moving to Prague and wondering if your child will be able to receive the additional services he or she needs. Where do you turn?

Destky Svet Indoor Playgroud & Birthdays, Prague 7

Indoor Playgrounds, Birthday Venues and Ideas on 26 April 2013 by Darina

image

IMPORTANT !! on 25.4.2013 this Indoor Playground got BURNED DOWN due to electric isolation failure. For now they are CLOSED. I believe they will re-open eventually, but we do not know when.

Newly opened is a spacious Indoor Playground on Letna called Detsky Svet (Kid’s World). So we were walking in Letna Park and it started raining, standing on the stairs to the Museum of Agriculture (next to the Technical Museum) we noticed a poster advertising an Indoor Playground within the premises. Then I remembered someone had mentioned a new Indoor Playground in this area and low and behold the rain brought us to it! I don’t know any Indoor Playground, with the exception of Beckiland, that has such a big Bouncy Castle. It dominates the whole place!

Sunday Brunch Storytelling at Globe, Prague 1

Restaurants and Cafes, Activities on 08 April 2013 by Larissa

image

Weekends BC (before children) consisted of late morning starts followed by a calorific brunch with endless cups of coffee to recover from the previous evening out. Imagine the rude shock and adjustments we’ve had to make with the arrival of children who eat up any adult leisure time that we previously enjoyed! Now we’ve hit on a compromise, Sunday visits to the Globe Bookstore & Cafe for an American style brunch combined with a 2 hour Storytelling & art session hosted by Lilly & Victoria. Happy kids, happy parents; reclaim your lazy weekends!
