Thundering down this almost 1000 metre long slide of steel, is 100% pure adrenalin. The first time is terrifying (it was for me) but you do get used to it. There is a break handle that you either let go, in order to speed up or pull towards yourself, if you want to break. The maximum speed you will reach is 62km/h.

The only time that I let the hand-break go, was when I could hear that my 8-year-old son was about to smash into me from the back, and I had no choice but to accelerate. I must be getting a bit too old for this but Robbie loved it. A big bonus is that once you get to the bottom of the hill, a special pulley system brings you (while you’re still seated in your sleigh) back to the top again. You barely need to move a finger. It’s all a little bit like snow tobogganing sans the snow.

Kids under the age of 8, must ride together with an adult. I have seen quite a lot of parents (mainly dads) with their young off-spring, coming down at pretty awesome speeds. My one reservation is that no-one seemed to be wearing safety helmet, but they are available for hire at a nominal fee.

Another piece of advice is to be sure to don a pair of pants, shorts and sneakers and not make the mistake that I made, of coming in a tight denim skirt and heeled shoes.

Once you get a bit too tired of all the riding and sliding, you can relax with an ice cream, drinks, some basic food (pizza, fried cheese, steak, fries etc) either inside the restaurant, or at one of the lovely tables outside. During the summer months, there is even an outside BBQ, which will grill a wide variety of meat for you. The outside terrace has a small kids’ play area, and in front of the entrance, there is also a playground with a rope pyramid and slide. You will also find a baby change table inside the female toilet.

The Prosek bobsleigh track can easily provide you with 1- 2 hours of fun with your kids and it is open every day of the year from 10am-10pm (with lights of course). The down side is that can get a little bit pricey as you have to pay per person for each ride. Every now and then, large tour busses arrive (often filled with teenagers speaking German), and this can increase the waiting time.

You can hold a kid birthday party here as well, with food/ride/cake packages all listed on the website in both Czech and English. If you wish to remain in this part of northern Prague for the day, you can also combine your visit to the Bobsleigh Track with a drop-in to the nearby Prosek Traffic Rules Playgound or Letnany Shopping Mall Complex.
