Clovickov Indoor Playground, Prague 5
This is a great combination: let your kid go wild nearby and have a coffee with your friends in peace, free in the knowledge that they are safe and having lots of fun. Also, since Clovickov is within one of the biggest shopping malls in Prague, Metropole Zlicin, you can take full advantage of the shops as well. However, here they don´t babysit. If you want babysitting withing the shopping mall, visit the TIME OUT Indoor Playground where they do babysit kids from 3y on.
Človíčkov (translates as: place for small people) is an indoor play centre, it features a fenced playing area for children alongside a cafe/sitting area with tables and chairs. If you have no inspiration where to organise a kids birthday party, this might fit your requirements what with its special BIRTHDAY packages on offer.
I love going to this place with the boys and they even let me bring my baby walking frame along so that I could allow Nicolas into the play area before he was walking. This allowed him to tot around watching the other kids playing and gave me a little bit of time to myself. Its a shame they do not offer baby sitting there, you have to personally supervise them all the time. What I usually do is I meet up with a friend and when I see that boys are fully occupied I nip out for quick grocery shop at Interspar, that is right next door, my friend then keeps an eye on them for me.
The kids play area is layed with carpet so you have to take their shoes off when entering. If you forget, some “nice” mother will tell you off for sure as happened to me. There are many toys to play with like a small slide, balls, spongy cubes covered in materials for castle building, kids grass cutters, push cars and a LEGO table of course. My boys get completely mesmerised when they switch on a cartoon, but luckily most of the time the TV is off so they just run around.
Lately they have added a net house with slide ending up in pool filled with colored balls as well as a trampoline. If you have bigger children then they will appreciate the area with bikes and all kinds of paddling vehicles. Kids race around in between columns that hold the upper hiding area. Marcus loves the small petrol station and he should start charging for all the bikes he fills up for other kids.
I feel relaxed there, since everything is geared for kids including the bathrooms and changing rooms and if you run short of nappies you can get them there for free.
The space is run together with a cafe downstairs, so you can order all kinds of coffee, tea, beverages, cakes, pancakes and toasted sandwiches with cheese and ham. I was tempted the last time we visited by a huge banana milk shake but unfortunately it didnt taste as good as it looked: it was made from powder and water! I can however, fully recommend the pancakes with bananas, ice-cream and chocolate and the toasted sandwiches. Although I am never able to eat them warm since I am either running after the boys or taking full advantage of having an uninterrupted chat with my friends.
The entry fee is 49 CZK per child for unlimited entry on the day. However, once you leave the premises and decide that you would like to go in back you will be asked to pay again. This is what they say on their website, but I have never been asked by the staff to pay again on the occasions when we have dashed out for a while.
BIRTHDAYS AT CLOVICKOV:
We have attended one birthday party at Clovickov. It was held it in a specially decorated room for parties. Every seat had a birthday decorated plate and cup. To be honest I found it a bit un-organised, suddenly out of nowhere a man dressed as Snoopy appeared, had a dance or two with the birthday boy and as fast as he appeared he was gone. Oh, Snoopy also brought out a cake. We were told that the man inside the costume got too hot inside the costume so there would be no more show that day. There were packages with sweets and chocolates for every child and they were playing kids music to dance to, but there wasn’t anybody really running the party. The children were a bit confused and so was I.
Clovickov offers a party attendant for 250 CZK that will organise and run the party and plays all kinds of games with the kids for about 60 min. I would fully suggest to take advantage of this option.
Birthday party packages include:
175 CZK per child on a week day
225 CZK per child on weekends
2 hours party room rental (capacity aprox: 10 - 15)
1 Ice-cream sundae per child and 2x soft drinks (usually Jupik)
Play area entrance
Small present for the birthday child hidden in a special hiding place
Colorful Invitations
A CD with digital pictures taken by professional photographer of the party
EXTRA CHARGES:
250 CZK party attendant
200 CZK Harribo figure that deliveres the birthday cake, stays for 10 min (that was probably our Snoopy!)
250 to 500 CZK for the birthday cake
It might be packed during the winter months and cold days and in during afternoon hours but its still worth going. Its no big deal if you dont get a table,. parents are usually running in between the kids and I always found some friendly parents that would let me have my coffee on their table. Funnily enough, the kids corner is full of daddies on the weekends, some of them playing with kids, the majority of them just catching their breath on the benches,. Meanwhile their beloved wife is airing the credit cards in the shopping mall.
