International Children’s Day Events in Prague - June 1

This is a fantastic day for kids in Prague - lots of options covering all interests and mostly for free.

There are also a couple of weekend events too at the end of this article, so take a look at what’s on offer in your local area!

Riegrovy Sady, Prague 2/3
10.00 to 17.00

A full program of live entertainment all centred around the playground in the middle of one of Prague’s great parks:
10.00 and 15.00 famous puppet theatre company Buchty a Loutky perform Golden Goose (Zlata Husa)
15.45 Long Vehicle Circus
16.00 Baton Twirling performance by kids troupe from DDM Prague 2 and live band Be Free
16.15 Disco

There will also be face painting, competitions, craft table, jumping castle, giant dominos, building of an igloo, ski slalom, music workshop, fishing. Basically, lots of exciting entertainment for the kids.

Namesti Jiriho z Podebrad, Prague 3
16.00 to 18.30
Earlier in the day the square will be reserved for local schools and kindergartens staging a Crazy Olympics but from 16.00 onwards an interesting and rich program for kids is promised.

There will be lots of singing and dancing performances and the stage will also feature some czech celebrities. Kids can meet Fire Fighters and explore their fire trucks as well as Hunters from the forests and other interesting professionals. The square will have food and drink available and the usual craft workshops, lego tables, jumping castle plus various games and activities.

Palac Flora, Prague 3
14.00 to 18.00
This is a good option in case of rain or cold weather as it will be held inside this big multistory shopping centre. There will be lots of competitions and giveaways throughout the afternoon and a kids concert featuring singers and dancers will be staged in the middle of the shopping mall. Other activities include Facepainting, Balloon Modeling by two (friendly) witches plus an inflatable Dinosaur slide.

Saint Anezka Monastery, Prague 5 (Klášter sv. Anežky)
15.30 to 17.30
For creative kids who like to use their hands the monastery is giving them the chance to experience a medieval arts workshop. Kids will experience how it was being a painter during the time of Charles 4th. Parents are required to stay during their child’s attendance at the workshop. Organised by the National Gallery of Prague, you will need to reserve your place by emailing: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or phone 221 879 225. The workshop price is 80czk per person and includes all materials.

Dostihové závodiště Praha (Racecourse Prague) - Velká Chuchle, Prague 5
14:00 - 19:00

A family afternoon at the horse races! Adults will be able to watch 9 trotting races during the afternoon program whilst kids are entertained by a theatre show, music and various sport competitions. In addition there will be pony rides, a carousel and slides. There will be a big painting competition for kids where they will need to paint a picture of a horse, these will be supervised and judged by professionals with winners picked for each age category.

Stromovka Park, Prague 7
14:00-18:00

Held in the beautiful park grounds near the duck ponds, this event usually has a strong environmental message and is one of the best well-known kid’s day events. Lots of creative workshops, exhibition of animals, an African drumming concert, fishing, pony rides, tree climbing, theatre shows and lots of fun for both kids and adults.

Prague Zoo, Prague 7 (Troja)

Kids entry is only 1czk all day!

At 11am in the Gorilla Pavilion kids can help celebrate the first birthday of Tatu and between 2 and 5pm you can help feed the gorillas and see what they like to eat. At 1pm you can attend the Christening of Kangaroo Bennet who is sponsored by fitness guru Olga Šípková. Following at 2pm kids can take a fitness class with Olga where they will jump like Kangaroos and learn how to move and dance like other animals at the Zoo. Throughout the day there will be feeding and meeting of the animals at 22 locations throughout the zoo. Check the zoo website for the feeding program.

Lots of games on offer throughout the afternoon as: Bowling, Hoops, Throw the target, Sack Jumping, Skipping, Board Games.

14:00 to 18:00 - visit the medieval granary - an exhibition of traditional tools and fiber processing plants
15:00 - Juggler Theatre Company, Prague will present the fairy tale “Three haired grandfather Know”
16:00 to 18:00 - Fire, guitar playing, singing, sausage barbecue

Žluté Lázně O2, Prague 4
Saturday 4 June
10:00 to 00:00

A fairytale royal court will take place at ZL’s entertainment centre down by the river. The royal court will feature a King and his queen, the courtiers and knights. There will be concerts featuring historical music and dancing from this time as well as the sport of Fencing and a Knights Tournament. Art workshops, games, sporting competitions, face painting, an exhibition of predatory animals and much, much more will also be there.

Aqua Palace Prague, Pruhonice
One for the Weekend: Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 June
11:30 to 14:30

Kids entry over the weekend is a very affordable 1czk and the program features facepainting, a bouncy castle, aqua zorbing and competitions.
