Kavárna Pavilon with Kids Corner, Prague 2

Kavárna Pavilon is a warm, open spaced cafe that always has room and is a good option for meeting up with friends in chilly or wet weather. A quiet kid’s corner is available to cafe patrons which you overlook from your table. The corner is unattended so you must keep a good eye on your kids.
This cafe models itself on the classic cafes such as Cafe Savoy, from the 1st Republic and is housed in the middle of the Pavilon; Vinohrady’s old Vegetable Market that was built in 1902. The building was restored post 1989 and had a golden period in the 1990’s as a luxury shopping centre before being overshadowed by the much larger Palac Flora just down the road.

Do not be put off by the empty shops surrounding the cafe, instead enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and lovely light-filled atrium space above. Staff here are very efficient and professional, this cafe happens to be run by the Ambiente chain of restaurants so the standard of service should be good. There are smoking and non-smoking sections within, for non-smoking, head to the Vinohradska end of the cafe (towards the elevators and away from the escalators).

There are plenty of high chairs available and lots of room for prams and strollers. The non-smoking section also overlooks the kids corner. Coffee is around 60czk from memory, they also do breakfasts, cakes and a range of sweet and savory crepes.

The kids corner is stocked with toys, it also has a children’s bathroom with toilet and baby change table, there is also an area for shoes and coats too. The corner has ceiling to floor windows so you can get a good view of your child. But, remember this space is unmanned so if your child is old enough to open the door then they could walk out into the shopping centre and even walk downstairs towards the street. If your child is older then they can come and go from your table as they please quite easily without getting lost or overwhelmed.

The corner and cafe is also available for kids birthday parties and other events. There is also free WiFi which I often take advantage of. All in all, it’s a really handy spot for anyone wishing to meet up, even without children attached.
