Mini Golf, Prague 3

The new outdoor Mini Golf course in the centre of Vinohrady/Zizkov is good fun and reasonably well priced. It’s a nice adult and kid-friendly activity for mild Autumn weather which you could also combine with a visit to the tower or a park visit to Riegrovy Sady.

The park area underneath the Zizkov Tower has always been a bit of a dog’s toilet bowl and has remained scruffy and undeveloped for many years. The park area is actually owned by tower management, not the local council, something most didn’t realise until Miminoo cafe and the mini golf course were built underneath it. This caused some protest from locals who wished the area to be free as parkland, but the fact is it’s a privately owned space and the owners wish to monetise it. If I had my choice between dog poo and the mini golf then golf wins hands down.

So if this weather remains mild then there is no reason not to venture out and try out this cute little course. If you want to turn it into a bit of a competition then the rules are 1 point for each shot you take with a maximum 7 shots per hole - so if you take multiple goes to sink your ball then the maximum points recorded per hole is 7.

You need to go to Miminoo cafe to play and pay so you need to make sure that the cafe is open. They often open later than they advertise so don’t be too keen for an early start. Staff will give each player a paper wrist band to show they have paid, they also have putters for adults and children, everyone gets their own putter and different coloured ball plus a scorecard.

There are 18 holes, many with tricks, different levels, tunnels, twists and turns - some are easy, others not so easy. This is a nice activity that both the kids and parents can enjoy together and they’ve done a nice job with landscaping and planning.

The price is very reasonable for a group with kids. I went with a friend and her daughter - there were 2 adults and 3 kids so we paid 320czk in total, quite reasonable for several hours entertainment.

A few years back we covered our visit to the refurbished Zizkov Tower and the restaurant in it’s shadow Miminoo with it’s problematic service and rather expensive prices. Staff are varied in their attitudes - some friendly and helpful, others just plain disinterested - just a warning if you’re met with confused expressions when you go to Miminoo - it’s not you - it’s them.

If you want to make a day of it and have a meal out then the preferred option would Aromi La Bottega just across the street - you can experience amazing food and service for the same price (including breakfasts), you just don’t get the park and lawn for kids to run around on.
