Palac Flora Indoor Playground, Prague 3

Palac Flora’s Indoor Playground has recently moved location and is in a completely refurbished space right next to the Cinema on the top floor. Palac Flora’s old Playground was always rather small and it was starting to look a little shabby so the revamp is welcomed. One of the nicest features is that it has natural light filtering in from large windows that face out onto the enchanting graveyard. The illustrated walls are also charming, the theme for the playground is ‘Children of the World’.
The area is much larger than the previous playground, although it’s somewhat narrow and the front area is a little sparse, but this will probably be rectified once the operators learn how to best use the area. Anyhow, we both felt really comfortable, the cool green shag pile carpet felt great on the feet and was dotted with round coloured mats that the kids naturally jump onto like paving stones. Of course there is the requisite slide into a large ball pool as well as a long table for art and many different types of new toys for all ages.

An area seems to be set aside for fairly young children underneath the windows, there was a comfy textured mat with toys suitable for children under 18 months. The playground has a kitchen set up for parents to heat bottles and food and a spot for breast feeding mothers. Plus a bathroom for all ages, a changing table and spare nappies for the younger ones.
The only downside was the TV, it’s centrally placed within the playground so if it’s switched on ALL children seem to be spellbound by it. Such was the case when we had two older children join us who were left to be minded. Given their age they were not really interested in cars, dolls and the other toys on offer so the TV was switched on. Unfortunately, Lucie and the other boy that was there became entranced by the cartoon being shown and stopped playing. All the kids sat down together in a very comfy lounge area with pillows and were obviously entertained, but I’d rather not go out and pay for Lucie to watch TV.

As with all Indoor Playgrounds in Prague, children can be baby sat from the age of 3, under the age of 3 you must accompany your child. When you first attend you will be asked to register with them by filling out a form, they have an example in English if you are unsure of the questions. Once registered you will be issued with a locker and when leaving you pay a per hour rate. The playground has regular theatre performances, sports afternoons and children’s discos, this is advertised on a poster at the entrance, as well as throughout the shopping centre.

Hi! I just noticed something really cool when I went to the Palac Flora website. The first Wednesday of every month, the cinema there offers a special movie viewing for moms with babies under 18 months. View this website for more details: http://www.cinemacity.cz/cinemama.php?page=01 On April 8th, it’s Slumdog Millionaire, which won a ton of awards. I don’t know about you all, but I rarely get to see a movie in the theatre these days! Hope it’s helpful!

Hi Sarah, Yes we’re aware of this program at Flora, the only one in Prague, it’s a brilliant service for mums with young kids. They have been showing Czech films over the past few months so I’ve been waiting for a good English language film before I planned to publicise this. At this present moment though, neither Karen, Darina or myself have kids under 18 months and we try to personally review and experience everything we write about. So, if you do plan to attend this session could you let me know and maybe you could share with us what it was like??
