Struggling with a hungry, crying child in Mustek I racked my brain to think of a place we could quickly dash into. I’d promised her juice, food and a play area and the place we were heading to had just closed for reconstruction! Aha, a little bird had told me months earlier that there is a non smoking cafe right near Frantiskanska Gardens - and so there is!

On arrival we found a large, clean and brightly lit place with not a trace of cigarette smoke (that would be because it’s a non-smoking cafe). There was a mix of regular patrons as well as mums with small kids perched up in highchairs. Seating is a mix of booth seats or comfy sixties style chairs. The cafe also has free Wi-Fi.

A charming wooden play area happily entertained a group of toddlers as well as my older daughter Lucie. It has colourful walls with a lot of wooden style puzzles attached to them plus big fabric blocks for stacking, a rocking horse and other interesting wooden toys. An aquarium is also on-site which the kids also found fascinating.

The place was not crowded and the one girl on staff was friendly, even when Lucie managed to spill her juice on the floor.

Keep in mind that this place is a traditional cafe thus food options are limited. The menu offers a large range of drinks (including alcoholic beverages), and a few fresh cakes, some icecream sundaes and snacks such as chips, Cornys, nuts plus a small daily offering of savory pastries. Lucie and I shared a spinach pastry which was nothing special and a slice of Medovnik (honey cake) which is always delicious and caused us to argue over who would have the last piece.

Down the corridor from the cafe there is a beautician as well as gymnasium for mums offering all types of excercise (pilates, yoga, fitball) including for pregnancy and post-partum. They also have classes for kids from 18 months up to the age of 6. You can click on this link here to see all the classes they offer (site is in Czech only).

Postu is quietly tucked away at the entrance to Frantiskanska Gardens (Jungmannovo Namesti entrance) and offers a peaceful family-friendly setting away from the crowds. And it’s definitely on my radar for any future emergency refueling stops!

I had no idea this place existed. I’ve past by it a million times and didn’t know they had a kid’s corner. I think our daughter will love it. We are often looking for a place to take a break in this area, especially when it’s cold. So thanks much.

It seems that Prague surprises me time and time again with its little spots that aren’t immediately noticeable at first glance like this. Recently my wife discovered a little cafe near Vysehrad that also has a kid’s area. I believe it’s called Ta Kavarna. It makes for a great connection to a visit to the castle. Although, I think their opening hours are a bit different than usual.

Well, maybe you know about this cafe already anyways.

Thanks for the very helpful site!
